Bridgestone is still hoping that F1's governing body adopts its suggestion to impose a red tyre option for the 2007 season.

To coincide with its monopoly on tyre supply next year, the Japanese company would like the Champ Car-style regulation to keep some interest in tyres in the sport.

The rule would make it compulsory for every driver to use both 'hard' and 'soft' compounds in every race, with red tyre walls differentiating the tyres.

At present, the FIA rule for 2007 involves the availability of two tyre specs, but not the requirement to use both.

"This decision is made by all the teams and the FIA, so we listen to them and their decisions," said Bridgestone's Director of Motorsport, Hiroshi Yasukawa, at Suzuka on Friday.

"But if we are concerned about fairness, then I think it's a good idea."

What i would like Bridgestone to do is develop puncture resistant tyres, or even puncture proof tyres if that were posible. :)

I am hopimg there will be just one tyre compound that would be used at every track, so as to reduce the amount of testing and reduce the advantage to any one team or driver.

wont go through, teams will dislike having to set up a car to cope with two compounds in races! and as we have seen in the champ car having the softer red compounds doesnt always mean faster times as it affects the balance of the car.

Dags they will only have one spec of each hard n soft for every team at each track, no in house advantages per team. although im sure Ferrari would still have some form or the other ;)

It is believed that Bridgestone has now appointed two replacements for its departing Technical Manager, Hisao Suganuma.

It was reported from Sao Paulo last week that the Technical Manager since 2001 would now return to Japan, as Bridgestone prepare to become Formula One's sole tyre supplier next year and beyond.

Suganuma's role is to be split between high ranking Bridgestone engineers Kees van der Grint and Jun Matsuzaki.

Dutchman van der Grint's role in 2006 was to liaise between Bridgestone, Ferrari and Michael Schumacher.
Matsuzaki fulfilled a similar role involving Schumacher's number two at the Italian team, Felipe Massa.

dont you like the dutchams role of liasing with Ferrar and Schuey..... wonder if Toyota williams and co would like that?:P

Wow, Bridgestone would have wanted to encourage strong bonds with Ferrari, they have so much power over the FIA anyway, very useful when only one tyre supplier is required!
