Valencia plans revealed

The Valencia government have revealed the final plans for the track which will host the F1 European Grand Prix in 2008. The track is being built around the America s Cup port and will be 5.4 km long.

It is estimated that a lap of the urban track will take about 1 minutes 37 seconds at an average of more than 200 km/h with top speeds of around 320 km/h. This compares to Monaco which has an average speed of just 159 km/h.

The circuit at Valencia is to have a total of 25 turns 11 right-handers and 14 left-handers. Capacity is said to be around 100,000 spectators. Construction is due to begin in October 2007.
