Even with Kubica’s horrifying crash over the weekend, the BMW Sauber team are proud and pleased with their performance at Montreal. Both cars started strongly and Nick Heidfeld drove an excellent race to get his first podium of the season.
Mario Theissen is happy with the performance so far this season. “I am really proud of this team,” Theissen began. “Nick certainly did not finish second by default. All the incidents in Sunday’s race took place behind him. That second place was on merit – he was simply faster than one of the McLarens and both Ferraris.
“Our form is very much on an upward curve. Six races into the season, we have collected two points more than in the whole of 2006. We achieved our aim for the season for the first time in Montreal in what was our best overall result so far for the team. But this should not be our only podium finish of the season.”
