According to Autosport, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was lucky that the Monaco Grand Prix finished when it did as the British driver was found to have a slow puncture on his right rear tyre on his slow-down lap.
It was the second right-rear puncture of the race for Hamilton the first came when he tapped the rear of his car against the barriers at Tabac, and the second was probably caused by some of the debris from Nico Rosberg s big crash at the Swimming Pool which left debris strewn across the track.
“He had a puncture on the slow down lap as well,†McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh confirmed to Autosport. “We were lucky in that regard. It was a right rear puncture probably from Nico s accident.â€
It appears that Hamilton took all McLaren s luck during the race Heikki Kovalainen was left stranded on the grid on the parade lap. Whitmarsh has revealed that the Finnish driver didn t stall his car suffered a software glitch that meant the driver had no control of the clutch before the start.
