Fernando Alonso has reignited rumours that his future lies at rivals Ferrari. Towards the end of the 2007 season, many speculated that the Spanish driver was gravitating towards the Ferrari team, however the scarlet-clad team chose to stay loyal to their 2007 drivers, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, with Alonso eventually heading back to Renault F1.
However Alonso has now sparked off new rumours that he may soon be heading to Ferrari. “At the moment they have the best car and that is why everyone wants to be in the places of Kimi and Massa,†Alonso explained.
When questioned over whether he would guarantee he would still be at Renault in 2009, Alonso replied, “No my decision will depend on a combination of three factors: the competitiveness of the car, the atmosphere, and the financial element.â€
Alonso also does not seem to have the confidence that the R28 is a title winning car. “The title is more a medium-term goal,†he continued. “It is going to be very difficult to fight with the fast ones the objective is to fight for the podium.â€
