It appears the speculation over Albers’ race seat has finally ended and Spyker have decided to drop Albers. It seems that Mingya, Albers’ sponsor, did not pay Spyker an agreed amount of money and Spyker have decided to replace the 28 year old driver.
This season, Albers has continually been outshone by his rookie team mate and has made several large errors, the last of which involved him driving off with the fuel hose still attached to his car.
Michel Mol explained, “It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I have been involved in Chris’ career for years but there was no other choice. It is nothing to do with his talent as a racing driver because we believe he is hugely talented. It is all down to one sponsor who has had financial difficulties”
Many believe that Christian Klien is the favourite to replace Albers, but there are several other drivers including Karthikeyan and Winkelhock who are also contenders.
