Given Vettel's comments while doing donuts in Brazil, did he know then what we're witnessing now?

WCC ends for sure. A WDC for Vettel is an extreme long shot, but I am reluctant to write him off yet. The FIA's tendency to screw with things, and that double points race have me concerned.

Too soon to say. At least they aren't pounding away laps 1 second faster than anyone else.

A drinks company vs 4 car manufacturers or dedicating racing teams, and in an engine based regulatory era?

Put it this way, a lot of RBRs engineers have worked it out and jumped ship

Are you saying that all the people in Milton Keynes rock up to work every day and think "fook it, they only make caffeine drinks" let's goof off for the day?

Maybe the people at Brackley, March into their offices at exactly 0900 with German precision. Then fear to move from their desks in case they feel the wrath of their Germanic overlords.

Maybe Adrian Neweys secret is that he has drank that much Red bull his hands shake down to the caffeine that the RB10 was just a straight line.

To say that Red Bull the reigning multiple world champions are not a dedicated race team is preposterous.

If Red bull do not win the championship this year, right now you have to say that would largely be down to Renault.

Credit to the drinks company, looking back at how they took over an ailing jaguar and turned a team with no success in their short history around in less than 5 years. The right people and drivers made the difference and they had their fun.

Point now which everyone is making is the fact we're in a new era where Redbull as a racing team is exposed more and more as a 'drinks company' because that is what they are. Unless they are planning to open their own engine division (Redbull Power) which is an insane thought to begin with, the era we're in now will always put RB as a 2nd rate team on paper. We only have two first rate F1 teams at the moment which make their own car/engine in-house and have the benefit of foresight and data to work with. Thus, claims of RB the 'drinks company' VS two other candidates who are in line not only with their business model but also in the relevant industry does make that cutting edge difference which RB will never, repeat never be able to make up for.

It's like RB, Monster, Heineken, Tiger, etc were having a championship in which drinks are able to absorb most sugar (and each of them already has a separate chemical division with extensive investment is required to allow for this strange process), Mercedes and Ferrari enters this championship and outsources that chemical division...they then become the 2nd rate team since immediately put themselves in a disadvantage.

RBR could play around with tricks during the aero-era, but the game has changed. Don't be surprised about RB rethinking their existence in F1 in a couple of years if they do not manage to find a dedicated engine manufacturer like McLaren would have with Honda. (and even that is doubtful since Honda will be free to link up with other teams)

But Red bull are a the manufacturer backed team

If this was true, it would be Redbull who would've done 50 laps on day 4, not Caterham.

Renault, like Merc and Ferrari set their specs and inform their customers as to what dimensions are required for packaging. Unfortunately for Redbull, not only did Renault mess up their own sh*t, lack of understanding reg PU requirements resulted in RB suffering the worst of all customers. Even assuming Renault & RBR have an agreement like Ferrari did with Bridgestone during the tyre war (1 size fits Redbull and the rest can take it or leave it) These are two big corporations trying to work together, not 1 corporation working for itself...which is what we have with Merc and Ferrari.

And if the test in Bahrain brings them more of the same, they might be wishing they'd be backed by a different engine manufacturer.

Proof...that 2 companies trying to work together will never have it as good as 1 company working only for itself.
