I think the main reason why those of us who aren't looking forward to this track grumble so much - myself included - is because of one man and his poor track-building record... Hermann Tilke.

I'm prepared to give it a chance though, there's always the chance we do get a good race, but I won't hold my breath on it because it was built by Tilke.

Looking at the video; it definitely looks interesting; love the pitlane exit; who's going to be first to hit the pitlane exit wall? I believe it's an interesting combination of fast straights and tight corners. That video isn't very representative of F1 speeds, three minutes to complete 3.5 miles; an F1 car should be able to do it in about half of that. Now that I have seen the track in action so to speak, I really like the layout; plenty of potential of overtaking with two big braking zones into tight corners.

Out of Tilke's tracks his best one probably has to be Malaysia because it flows quite nicely and has some good height changes and undulations. Now this was the second track he made after his alterations to the Osterreichring which was decent... and then it all went literally downhill from there with Bore-rain and Shaingh-ite.

Yeah it seams to be more about the building than the track.

I think the cars in the support races should be made to lay down some rubber at the end of their races all over the track so it gets rid of the dust and gives some grip off-line.

Didn't really work in Bahrain did it? Or when Valencia was dusty.

I agree: Sepang is a very good circuit and is well worth having on the calendar. However, Tilke's other circuits have generally been poor. But, to be honest, though, even if every circuit designed by Tilke would be brilliant, I'm still not convinced that having a dozen of them on the calendar would be a good idea. Just like drivers, authors, whoever really, architects have a particular style. So, everybody would get used to Tilke's tracks, which would, amongst other things, make it easier for the teams and drivers and more boring for the fans. I highly doubt Tilke is the only person on the planet capable of designing racing circuits. It's time somebody else with a different design philosophy was given a chance.
