A lot of people are disappointed with how Brawn and Red Bull have gone about this title battle, but they seem to forget that neither team has been in a position like this before and in comparison to other teams that have fought for and won/lost championships (Ferrari, McLaren, Renault) they are relatively young. You only get good at fighting for championships by fighting for championships.

Oh, come on! What a cop out. Both Red Bull and Brawn have plenty of experienced personnel. And, even if they did not, it would still not explain the infantile errors witnessed in this shambolic season.

McLaren and Ferrari (and their drivers) have had more than their own fair share even after decades in the sport and fighting for championships.

The fact is, the pressure is high. They've been put in to this position somewhat unenxpectedly and they're not used to it. I didn't say I was pleased with how they've gone about it, but realistically looking at it, it's not at all bad for a first effort. I would imagine if they were the main contenders next year (which I doubt) then things would be much better.

Yeah, Ferrari and McLaren still have all their staff from the 1950s and '60s working for them. It's made their recent form possible.

I was saying the same to myself after reading the last dozen or so posts on here. Do I have to remind people of the shi!e that Ferrari and McLaren have pulled in the past few years?

They still have staff there from ten or twenty years ago and they're still making mistakes. Ten or twenty years ago, they'd have had people there from the ten or twenty years before that and still made mistakes. You know exactly what I mean.

I can list some pretty stupid mistakes made over the past few years that have cost, or had the potential to cost, either team the world championship(s).

Sorry, but that does not wash. Hamilton, for instance, has made some mistakes at McLaren, but he is genuinely inexperienced, and the mistakes, though embarrassing, are not quite on the same level as Button's ineptitude. Yes, Hamilton rear-ended Raikkonen in the pits, but at least he was driving fluidly. Furthermore, Ferrari and McLaren were pushing each other to the absolute limit in 2007 and 2008; the same cannot be said for Brawn and Red Bull.

Eh, no, I have not one bit. My tune was and still is this: Hamilton's errors were poor, but there were mitigating circumstances. What annoys me more than anything is that Hamilton and his father throw their toys out of the pram when McLaren makes a mistake, but feel as though they are entitled to make howlers themselves. Abominable hypocrisy.

But, getting back to what the thread was meant to be about, although Hamilton made mistakes, his driving was pretty fluid (save only for the 2008 British Grand Prix, where he was a bit off colour). He was topping the times sheets, doing well in qualifying, had good race pace, etc. Button, however, has done few of those things.

I disagree when Hamilton made mistakes he admitted to them.

Which brings me to the point of if Jenson fails to set-up the car properly you hear him whine to the team

"how can this car be so bad"

I'd be insulted if was an engineer at brawn watching Rubens win or Get 3rd with Jenson walling in the midfield.

Out of the 14 races this season Jenson has finished ahead of Rubens 10 times.
