I vaguely remember Steve Matchett saying that SV's record of most laps led in a single season is more than all the laps put together that JB led in his entire career (incl. a world champion season)! :yikes:

Not everyone has it easy eh

What's so impressive about that? JB isn't really a top notcher...though I think he's going through his absolute peak right now.

These sort of stats are useless though; these stats would only be valid if everyone had equal equipment and setup, Vettel has had the best car on the grid for the last two years, Jenson has only had the best car on the grid for maybe eight or nine races in his career, all those years in a BAR/Honda hasn't helped his stats... I would love to see 24 RB7's on the grid and see who comes out on top; who know's it could be Narain Karthikeyan ( The Fastest India in the World ), no really it says so on his website so it must be true!

I agree. Not on the Narain part, but the rest.

"he made a dream debut in Melbourne ... 2005, out-qualifying 7 times World Champion Michael Schumacher to start 12th on the grid"

I need to learn how to Quote but I agree totally with Myownalias, anyway, Sebastian has started to re-write the record books. Yes he is in a great car but Michael was as well but both of them were stars in very crappy cars to begin with. I am thinking although the records go back to the start of F1, should there perhaps be a new set of unofficial records for modern F1, maybe starting at 1980?
I know there is a fantastic guy here who does all the stats and I love reading them, but would 1980 be a good point to start for modern F1?

What Vettel has achieved is amazing, there is no doubt about that, I believe he is a very talented driver, certainly up there with the best on the current grid; no matter what you say about the Red Bull RB7, Vettel as a driver has made the difference, the only comparison we can make is to his team mate Mark Webber and the German has blown the Australian out of the water this season.

I was at that race, Qualifying was rained out halfway through. One lap qualifying with MS being out last he had no lap in the dry. What a stupid achievement to claim!

Yeah that site is misleading....just a little. :D

But hey he finished ahead of his teammate in India, Daniel Riccardo! That's a job well done for the former racing truck driver I'd say.

Over two years actually. It surpassed the Brawn well into the 2009 season.
