It seems Kimi Raikkonen hasn’t been able to shake off his bad-luck bug that plagued him at McLaren. The Finn spent most of Wednesday standing in the Ferrari garage as his new F2007 broke down on the track with a failed engine. Worse still, Massa, having just returned from illness, put in some blazing times and finished the day top of the times, showing just what the car is capable of.
Raikkonen wasn’t alone; Mark Webber found his Red Bull coasting to a stand still, as did Alonso, after his car had a loss in oil pressure. Joining them was Ralf Schumacher, who broke his gearbox.
Meanwhile, teams decided not to extend this week’s testing at Jerez, despite a poor weather forcast for later today. It was expected that teams would take advantage of the F1 testing committee’s ratification procedure for lengthening tests if bad weather hampers one of the dry running days, however with such a tight schedule because of Barcelona testing next week, teams have decided to stick to the plan and pack up this evening.
